Safe cleanup and privacy

Understand how MangoDisk handles scans, permissions, deletion, and local data before you clean

Updated July 29, 2026

MangoDisk is designed around review and confirmation. Scan results stay on your computer by default, and you choose what to remove.

Scans stay local

File names, paths, scan results, and cleanup history are processed on your device. MangoDisk does not need to upload your files to analyze disk usage.

The website and links to external services are covered separately in the Privacy Policy.

Grant only the permissions you need

Your operating system may protect certain folders. MangoDisk asks for access only when a feature needs to inspect or remove content in one of those locations.

You can review and revoke application permissions in the privacy or security settings provided by your operating system.

Review before removal

Check file names, locations, sizes, warnings, and selected totals. Save open work and keep backups of important data.

When you are unsure about an item:

  1. open its containing folder;
  2. identify the app or project that created it;
  3. leave it unselected until you know it is safe to remove.

Understand recovery

Some cleanup actions can use the system trash, but others may remove files directly. Treat every confirmation as potentially permanent and keep a current backup of valuable files.
