System Maintenance
Use MangoDisk to diagnose and fix common macOS and Windows problems with search, icons, audio, networking, and system components

Not every system problem calls for a reinstall. When search stops finding files, icons look wrong, audio disappears, or a network service gets stuck, System Maintenance brings the relevant checks and repairs together so you do not have to hunt down system commands.
Check first, then decide what to run
Open System Maintenance to check the maintenance tasks supported by your computer. MangoDisk shows which tasks are healthy, which ones it suggests running, and which ones are available whenever you need them.
The check only reads component status. It does not change settings or restart services. Filter the result by Suggested, System Repair, Search & Interface, or Network to focus on the problem you are trying to solve.
Fix common system problems
Available tasks depend on your operating system. They can help you:
- rebuild Spotlight or Windows Search indexes;
- repair file associations, icons, thumbnails, and file previews;
- restart an unresponsive Finder, audio, or update service;
- check system files and the disk file system;
- clear a stuck print queue or Microsoft Store cache;
- refresh DNS records and synchronize the system clock.
Each task addresses a specific symptom. If your computer is working normally, there is no need to run every task as routine maintenance.
Run one task and follow its progress
Select Run beside a task to see its current phase, progress, and elapsed time. MangoDisk runs only the task you chose; it does not start the rest of the list.
Some checks take longer or briefly restart Finder, audio, or another system service. MangoDisk explains the impact before it begins and checks the result again when the task finishes.
Administrator access and safety
macOS or Windows may request administrator approval when a task repairs system files, checks a disk, or restarts a protected service. The task does not continue if you decline.
MangoDisk uses maintenance capabilities provided by the operating system and does not accept arbitrary terminal commands or scripts. Save your work before running a task. If MangoDisk says a restart is required, restart the computer when convenient to complete the repair.
System Maintenance is designed for common software problems. It is not a replacement for hardware diagnostics, data recovery, or professional repair. Back up important files and seek further help if disk errors continue, the computer crashes repeatedly, or files can no longer be read.
