Startup Items

See which apps start automatically on macOS and Windows, turn off unnecessary startup items, and remove obsolete startup settings with MangoDisk

Updated August 19, 2026

Startup Items shows the apps and background services that run when your computer starts or you sign in. Turning off items you do not need can reduce startup work and help the desktop become ready sooner.

Scan startup items

Select Startup Items and start a scan. Scanning only reads the current settings; it does not change them.

Use the search box or the All, Enabled, and Disabled filters to find an app. Expand a row to see when it starts and where the setting comes from.

Turn an item on or off

Use the switch beside an app to control automatic startup. If an app has several startup entries, expand it and adjust each entry separately.

Turning off automatic startup does not uninstall the app or delete its files. It also does not quit an app that is already running. The change takes effect the next time you start the computer or sign in.

Keep security software, input tools, backup apps, and services you rely on enabled. If you are unsure, leave the item unchanged.

System-managed items

Some items are controlled by macOS or Windows and are shown for reference only. MangoDisk does not bypass system protection to change them.

On macOS, additional startup items may appear after Full Disk Access is allowed. MangoDisk explains this before opening System Settings.

Remove leftover entries

When an app is gone but its startup setting remains, MangoDisk can label it as a leftover. Removing it deletes only the obsolete startup setting, not other app or personal files.
