System Optimization
Reduce unnecessary background work and distractions with reviewed macOS and Windows settings you can inspect before applying
Updated August 26, 2026
System Optimization brings useful macOS and Windows settings into one place. It can reduce unnecessary background work and distractions, make everyday tasks more convenient, and help your computer feel more responsive.
MangoDisk only includes built-in settings with a clear purpose and safety boundary. Scanning reads the current state without changing anything.
Choose how you want to optimize
Use Smart Recommendation for a balanced starting point, or choose a preset focused on performance or privacy. You can also turn every setting on or off individually.
The available items depend on your operating system and may include:
- reducing unnecessary background features and visual effects;
- making files and folders easier to manage;
- limiting advertising, suggestions, and optional activity tracking;
- improving gaming or storage behavior;
- adjusting everyday interface preferences.
Review changes before applying
Changing a switch only adds it to the pending list. MangoDisk does not apply anything until you select Apply changes.
Before continuing, check the pending list and any labels shown beside an item. MangoDisk identifies changes that need administrator access, a restart or a new sign-in. High-impact settings receive an additional confirmation because they may affect security, recovery, or update behavior.
Apply and verify
After applying a change, MangoDisk reads the setting again to verify the result. The outcome is saved in Operation History, making it easier to review what changed or investigate an item that could not be applied.
System Optimization does not run arbitrary scripts or commands. If you are unsure about a setting, leave it unchanged and use the smart recommendation as the safer default.
