Large File Cleanup

Videos, installers, archives, and old project files can use a large amount of storage while accounting for only a few items. Large File Cleanup finds them first and lets you decide what stays.

Choose a scan location

Use the location selector to choose a local disk, a recent folder, or a new folder. Scanning a likely location is usually faster and easier to review than scanning an entire disk.

You can also set the minimum file size. After scanning, changing the threshold filters candidates retained from that scan without walking the disk again. Rescan to check for new or moved files.

Choose a scan method

On macOS, Quick Scan is the default. Use the arrow next to the scan button to switch methods:

Quick Scan uses the Spotlight index for speed, but may miss files that have not been indexed.
Complete Scan walks the selected location for more complete results. The time required depends on the number of files.

Switch to Complete Scan if expected files are missing or Spotlight is not ready for the location. Windows uses Complete Scan and does not show this menu. Access permissions and exclusions still apply; Complete Scan does not guarantee access to every file.

Exclude folders from scans

Open Excluded folders, then select or drag in folders to skip, such as backups or media libraries you want to keep. Save the list for future scans. If results are already displayed, choose Save and Scan Again to refresh them.

Folder exclusions work on macOS and Windows. Both macOS scan methods use the same exclusion list, and system-protected folders are still skipped automatically. To scan a folder again, remove it from the list and save. Removing an exclusion does not delete the actual folder.

Filter and sort files

Filter the results by video, audio, image, document, archive, installer, or other file types. The list can be sorted by file name, path, size, and modification time.

Each row shows the file size, location, and modification time. If you need more context, open the containing folder in the system file manager.

Permanently delete files

Delete one file directly or select several files for a batch action. The footer shows the selected file count and estimated space to free.

Large files are deleted permanently and do not go to the system Trash or Recycle Bin. MangoDisk asks for confirmation first. A file that has changed, moved, or become unavailable since the scan is skipped to avoid deleting the wrong target.

Confirm that the files are no longer needed and back up personal media, documents, and project data before deletion.
