What this policy covers
This policy covers the MangoDisk desktop app and this website. It does not cover third-party websites or services that you choose to open from MangoDisk.
Data handled by the desktop app
MangoDisk scans the files and folders you choose on your device. File names, paths, scan results, and cleanup history stay on your device and are not uploaded by default.
The app may ask for system permission to read protected folders or remove selected items. These permissions are used only to provide the feature you requested.
When checking for updates, the app sends limited technical information such as a random installation ID, app version, operating system, and language. We use this information only to provide updates, understand version usage, and prevent abuse. It does not include your files, scan results, hardware serial number, or computer name.
Optional AI explanations
AI runs only when you request an explanation. With the free MangoDisk service, selected item metadata, including original names, paths and current status, is sent to MangoDisk and its model provider. File contents and API keys are not included. The first request asks you to acknowledge this transfer.
We retain the full request, actual prompts and received response (including any reasoning supplied by the model) for 30 days to investigate failures and improve explanations. Records are encrypted in storage and restricted to authorized administrators. Random installation identifiers and limited technical metadata support quotas and abuse prevention; no hardware serial number is collected. Expired content becomes unavailable and is removed by scheduled cleanup.
With a custom API provider, requests go directly to the service you configure, under that provider's privacy and billing terms; MangoDisk does not archive those conversations on its server. You can switch providers or stop using AI at any time. AI suggestions never authorize system changes or file deletion.
Website visits
Service providers may process basic request information needed to deliver the website and keep it secure, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and time. We do not use advertising trackers or sell personal information.

We may use hosting, content delivery, and source-code hosting services to operate the website, provide updates, and maintain the open-source project. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services.
Your choices
You can manage or remove locally saved data in MangoDisk settings, or uninstall the app. If you have questions about information handled by the service, contact us using the details below.
