Getting Started with MangoDisk
Learn how MangoDisk frees disk space, manages apps and startup items, optimizes settings, and fixes common system problems
Updated 2026/08/30
MangoDisk follows a simple workflow: scan first, review the results, and then decide what to delete. Scanning does not change your files.
Choose a feature
Select the task that matches what you want to do:
- Deep Cleanup brings caches, temporary files, developer data, and app leftovers together for review.
- Large File Cleanup finds files using the most space in a disk or folder.
- Duplicate File Cleanup finds content-identical files so you can keep one copy and remove the extras.
- App Uninstaller shows app storage and checks related files during uninstall.
- Startup Items shows what runs automatically and lets you turn off items you do not need.
- System Optimization reduces unnecessary background work and distractions with reviewed settings you control.
- System Maintenance checks and fixes common problems with search, icons, audio, and networking.
- Disk Space Analysis displays storage usage as a treemap and a sortable list.
If you do not know where your storage went, begin with Disk Space Analysis. If you want a quick way to reclaim space, try Deep Cleanup first.
Start a scan
Large File Cleanup, Duplicate File Cleanup, and Disk Space Analysis let you choose a disk or folder. Deep Cleanup checks common cleanup locations, App Uninstaller reads installed apps, and Startup Items reads automatic startup settings. System Optimization checks supported settings, while System Maintenance checks common system components; neither changes the system during the check.
A larger scan takes longer. You can keep using your computer, but avoid moving, renaming, or deleting many files until the scan finishes so the results remain current.
Review the results
MangoDisk shows names, locations, sizes, risk labels, and any apps that need to be closed. If an item is unfamiliar, open its location in the system file manager before selecting it.
Check the following before you continue:
- whether you still use the file or app;
- whether it contains documents, photos, projects, or app settings;
- whether the displayed space to free matches your selection.
Confirm deletion
MangoDisk shows a confirmation before a destructive action. Large files, duplicate copies, and items deleted from Disk Space Analysis are removed permanently and do not go to the system Trash or Recycle Bin.
Select only content you no longer need and back up anything important. Afterward, use Operation History to review recorded cleanup, uninstall, startup, optimization, and maintenance operations.
